Forty teens from across Texas will be selected for a statewide ambassadorship to promote healthy dating relationships and raise awareness about teen dating violence as part of Texas Advocacy Project’s 3rd annual Teen Ambassadors of Hope campaign.
Teens: Make a REAL difference in your community by becoming a Teen Ambassador of Hope!
As an Ambassador, you will earn required service hours for your volunteer endeavors. You will learn leadership skills from a nationally-renowned leadership training instructor and can highlight the success of your campaign in your college and scholarship applications, allowing you to stand out among your peers. By the end of the campaign, you will have made an impact in your community and developed leadership skills that will take you into your future with confidence.
Summary: 40 nominated teens from across Texas will be selected to participate in the 3rd Annual Teen Ambassadors of Hope Campaign. Teens will compete among each other for the title of Teen Ambassador of the Year 2017; three winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) will be announced at an awards luncheon honoring all participants. Returning Ambassadors from 2015 & 2016 will compete among other returnees for the title of Legacy Teen Ambassador.
Campaign Goals: 1. promote awareness of dating violence and healthy relationships; 2. champion the mission and services of Texas Advocacy Project; 3. raise funds for Texas Advocacy Project -which provides FREE legal services to victims of domestic + dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking; a portion of proceeds raised will fund an academic scholarship for a child whose mother was a Project client.
Eligibility: Male & female Texas residents; aged 13-19. Applicants should be civic-minded, self-aware, compassionate, self-confident, and motivated; applicants should possess the following traits: excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
February 1: Campaign kickoff; Applications + nominations period opens
Friday, March 20: Nomination deadline; all applications must be received by end of day, March 20.
Friday, March 25: Selected Ambassadors notified; all applicants receive decision notification
Training 1 - Ambassadors choose one training location for a mandatory 2 hour training covering teen dating violence, healthy relationships, personal branding, and fundraising
Austin Date: Sunday, April 23 (10:30am - 1pm)
Monday, May 1: Campaign Kick Off; individual donation pages are live and ready to accept donations
Training 2 - Ambassadors choose one training location for a leadership training seminar led by Dr. Barry Bales
Austin Date: Friday, June 23 (12pm - 1:30pm)
Houston Date: Monday, May 15 (6pm - 7:30pm)
Friday, July 7: Final day to accept donations via cash, check or online
July TBD: Luncheon for all Ambassadors; Ambassador of the Year 2017 winners announced
Application Process: Candidates will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of members of The Project’s Board and staff.
